In this exhibition of paintings by Valter Lopes, colors and shapes are used to represent a non-existent and unique universe of emotions, feelings and sensations. An essay without an essay, a clear non-narrative that silently offers a fragment, a piece of a mysteriously familiar narrative. Tenuous and subtle connections between different realities, gestures that disappear in content and in vague or undefined details.

“ Um gesto que não passa de uma ameaça, gesto contraditório, contextos sem correspondência, diferentes ou mesmo inexistentes. Ligações ténues e subtis entre a tua e a minha realidade, gestos que se extinguem no conteúdo e nos detalhes vagos. Cores e formas são usadas para representar um universo inexistente e único de emoções. Incerto, uma não narrativa clara que oferece, silenciosamente um fragmento, um pedaço de uma narrativa misteriosamente familiar. O gesto que contém o mesmo valor que a palavra e onde ambos habitam o lugar da imanência. Da mesma forma que a palavra, o gesto- (ameaça) imerge do seu som e da sua representação, o gesto que gera apreensão na sua concretude, mesmo que abstraído de sentido e significado."
“ A gesture that is nothing more than a threat, a contradictory gesture, contexts that do not correspond, are different or even non-existent. Tenuous and subtle connections between your reality and mine, gestures that disappear in their content and vague details. In the same way as the word, the gesture (threat) emerges from its sound and its representation, the gesture that generates apprehension in its concreteness, even if abstracted from meaning and significance."
