Inspirada na Ilha de Citera que, no sec. XVIII, foi referência para poetas e artistas que consideravam um lugar idílico. Em muitas das pinturas apresentadas nesta exposição de Petri Salo é recorrente o tema do encontro. Diferentes pessoas encontram-se ou espectadores são convidados a testemunhar um evento, que poderá ter a forma de um ritual estranho ou uma reunião secreta. Em todos eles, o mais importante parece ser a ideia de encontrar o místico, em que a vida do personagem principal muda de curso, baseado nesse evento.
Inspired on the Island of Citera, that was, in XVIII century, a reference for poets and artists that considered it an idylic place. In this exhibition in many of Petri Salo paintings, the theme of the meeting is recurrent. Different people meet or spectators are invited to witness an event, which may take the form of a strange ritual or a secret meeting. In all of them, the most important thing seems to be the idea of finding the mystic, in which the main character's life changes course, based on that event.

" Tudo o que começa em algum ponto, deve terminar mais cedo ou mais tarde. Isto é: o que vem e vai. O que aparece, deve aparecer em ou dentro de alguma coisa, como uma pintura aparece numa tela. Não pode haver uma pintura sem uma base... ou escrita sem papel ou quadro, base, tela etc… A minha mensagem é um convite para explorar a realidade que não vem e vai, na qual toda experiência surge... e ainda assim é intrinsecamente uma… com o que aparece."
"Everything that begins in some point, must end sooner or later.. That is : What comes and goes. What appears, must appear on or in something, like a painting appears on a canvas. There cannot be a painting without a base...or writing without the paper or screen, base, canvas etc… My message is an invitation to explore that reality that doesn't come and go, on which every experience appears... and yet which is intrinsically one… with what appears."
